Dr. Mohammad Al Khawaldah is the head of Mechatronics Focus Group in Electro-mechanical Engineering Program at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic. He received his BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Technology, Baghdad, (1999), MSc in Mechatronics Engineering from Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan (2005) and PhD degree (Exploration and Map-building by Cooperating Mobile Robots) from University of Hertfordshire, UK. (2010).

Stuart Harrison has over 27 years experience in a range of technical, operations and senior business roles, across a variety of projects in facilities management, construction and engineering, including managing services in critical environments, such as international gateway airports, hospitals and healthcare.

Stuart is a Chartered professional and is also a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and CMI Chartered Manager (CMgr).

In 2017, Stuart oversaw implementation of the first Energy Performance Contract (EPC) pilot project in the UAE, which succeeded in achieving average building energy savings of over 26% and subsequently won ‘Engineering Service of the Year” at the 2017 fmME Awards.  In the same year, Stuart also developed the first NICEIC-accredited electrical training course in the UAE, which was introduced at Emrill to further raise electrical contracting standards in the Middle East. 

Stuart’s strengths as CEO are his ability to effectively manage large teams and complex technical projects, and to deliver world-class solutions whilst balancing the commercial and financial needs of both the business and clients alike.

Marouan is particularly experienced in business, data, application, and integration architectures including strategy definition, architecture, management, modelling, design, analysis, documentation and standards development. 

Alexander Kolpacov

Alexander Kolpacov, Regional Digital Project Delivery, AECOM

Alexander is leading AECOM’s regional Digital Project Delivery group in charge of the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital technology as well as supporting BIM delivery on major projects. He has over 17 years of professional experience in both traditional and BIM roles including 9 years in the United Arab Emirates. He holds a Mechanical Engineer degree and a Project Management Professional qualification. Alexander has worked in Europe, Australia and the Middle East on some of the largest developments, holding engineering and management positions within major international companies. His previous roles have included project management, design and construction coordination, site management, inspections and supervision.

For the last eight years, he has been heavily involved in management and implementation of Building Information Modeling and digital technology for design consultancies, construction companies and developers. His experience includes the development of organizational strategy and implementation, project methodology and BIM Execution Plans, design coordination, design management, setting up BIM for scheduling (4D), costing (5D), and Facility Management (6D).

Alain Kaddoum

Alain Kaddoum, General Manager, Swisslog Middle East

Alain Kaddoum is the General Manager of Swisslog Middle East, an intralogistics provider that delivers robot-based and data-driven automation solutions for customers across a wide range of industries including F&B, retail, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, spare parts as well as third-party warehouses and distribution centres.

Having worked for Swisslog for more than two years, and in the engineering industry for almost a decade, Kaddoum brings with him a wealth of experience and industry expertise.

Prior to joining Swisslog, Kaddoum has worked for Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in the UAE where he led a research team and worked on the development of advanced non-destructive testing and inspection protocol for the Aerospace industry. 

Kaddoum aims to directly drive and support sales and business teams and develop strategies to support the uptake of the company’s automation solutions for forward-thinking customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and bordering regions. His goal is to establish Swisslog as the leader in warehouse and distribution solutions throughout the region.

Alain Kaddoum holds a Master’s degree in automatics, informatics and decisional systems from INP Toulouse, France, and B. Eng. in electrical and automation from the INP-ENSEEIHT, in addition to other academic accomplishments and certifications. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Adam Lalani

Adam Lalani
Adam Lalani, CIO - Digital Transformation and Information Security Strategist

Adam is a multi-award winning CIO and Digital Transformation and Information Security Strategist. Amongst many achievements, he led the development of the GCC’s first production-grade Supply Chain Blockchain platform. In his varied career, he worked for one of the UK’s oldest high street chains tasked with a Y2K driven phase-out of old IBM AS/400 mainframes, before working on an automation project for 150 stores across the UK that provided real-time sales data from each outlet. 

Later, he worked as the IT Manager for Europe and the Middle East for the steel trading subsidiary of Arcelor Mittal (Macsteel) before joining ESHIPS as Head of IT & Administration – working on projects that included the early adoption of various cloud-computing technologies. He moved to Tristar as a result of their US$90 million acquisition of ESHIPS in March 2016. At Tristar, Adam led the implementation of the region’s first production Blockchain SCM solution as well as the Group’s various Digital Transformation efforts.

Having spent over 20 years helping to transform the companies he worked for, Adam decided to create lalani.at so that other organisations and individuals can benefit from his knowledge and experience. Adam is a certified ITILv3 Expert, a PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner, a Member of the British Computer Society and holds an MSc in Computer Network Management (Distinction).

Eng. Abdallah Obeikan

Eng. Abdallah Obeikan is CEO of the Obeikan Investment Group (OIG). He joined OIG in 1987 and earned roles in positions of increasing responsibility until he became CEO in 2000. He is Chairman of the Board for Obeikan AGC Co. Ltd and for joint ventures Integrated Packaging Systems and Elopak Obeikan. He is also a Member of the Board for SIG Combibloc Obeikan, OIG, Laureate Obeikan, the Public Education Evaluation Commission, Saudi Export Development Authority, Obeikan Glass, the Arabian Shield Co., the National Water Company, the Social Development Bank, and MESC. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from King Saud University.

A global change manager and project leader in the supply chain and logistics industry with 15+ years of experience, Thabani Ndlovu, Regional Operations Excellence Manager - MEA – Lean, Quality & HSE from CEVA Logistics is a process improvement expert using Kaizen & practical problem solving techniques (Six Sigma certified Black Belt), with a wide depth of industry experience.  He has mentored Lean change agents to successfully meet business goals and has a proven record in delivering substantial process and cultural changes with significant financial impact.

He specialises in - Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, Ensures delivery of operations excellence targets (Kaizen, Efficiency gain, HSE, Site classification), Improves the quality of country operations by implementing LEAN methodology driving high impact Kaizens in process improvement.

Dr. Wael Bazzi

Dr. Wael Bazzi, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, American University in Dubai

Wael Bazzi is an associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the American University in Dubai. He completed his PhD degree in optimum resource allocation for wireless ad hoc networks at the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research and consultancy experience is centred on modelling and optimization of interference limited wireless communication systems. In 2011, he instigated the application of AUD’s school of engineering to become the first academic member of the International Telecommunication Union in the UAE and has been serving as the ITU focal point with AUD since then.

 

Andrey Kras

Born and bred in Russia, educated in Japan, got a PhD from the Waseda University in 2008. Worked as a business consultant for several years before being hired by Daifuku in January of 2012 as an account manager.

Andrey will discuss the topic “Warehouse-Centric Factory” where his focus will be the factory layout planned around the automated warehouse that plays a role of a connector of nearly all processes happening in the factory – from receiving of raw materials through manufacturing to shipping of finished goods. 

Firas Obeido

Firas Obeido, Chief Technology Officer, Smart Automation Energy

With over 25 years of experience, Firas has a plethora of experience within Building Energy Management & Optimisation Systems (BEOMS). Firas is the founder of Smart AE’s sister company SatchNet Electronic Systems in Jordan, where he still acts as Chairman of the company. 

Previously President of the Jordanian Energy Chapter and until recently a Board Member at the Green Building Council of Jordan, Firas holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Major in Electrical Power from the University of Al - Balqa' Applied University (BAU)  in Jordan. Graduating in 1994, went on to further his training in Building Management Systems in the USA, UK, Switzerland and Germany.

A Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LonMark Certified Professional, Firas also enjoys the accolade of a Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP). He also during his career has had the opportunity to speak at National, Regional and International conferences, including the European Union conference on energy consumption, International Think Green Conference, Green Business Day and Horizon 2020. 

Firas is a regular trainer at the Jordan Engineers Training Centre and has conducted training courses in the BEOMS field ensuring education and awareness on the concepts and applications of Advanced Building Control Systems and Energy Management Systems.

Firas is passionate about Building IOT (BIOT), Big Data & Machine Learning for Buildings and believes if AI is well utilised it can have a positive social, economic & environmental impact on millions of people around the globe.

Federico Ruiz

Federico Ruiz is an Industrial Engineer with a masters degree in Automotive Industry and Executive MBA in ESADE Business School. He works as Supply Chain Manager for EMEA region in Valmont Industries, the world leader in precision irrigation segment. Being one of the youngest managers in his company he has participated in speeches about Leadership and Operational Excellence in several events. He is also an active member of an Investor Club in Spain by participating and leading some start-up projects. He loves music and sports but as he says, the best time is always when you spend time with people, especially if you laugh with them.

Jonathan joined PROCENTEC in January 2018 and started as the UK sales manager opening PROCENTEC’s UK office before moving to HQ in July 2019 to become the global sales manager. Before PROCENTEC Jonathan spent 9 years in Korea where he got his MBA from Seoul National University and worked in international sales and business development for a global leading chemical company.

Marcel works as Area Sales Manager and is based at Beckhoff Automation headquarters in Verl, Germany. He is overlooking and developing the Beckhoff activities in several regions worldwide, amongst them the Near East Region. He has been working for Beckhoff for nine years and started as a Student Trainee in Technology and Product Management before joining International Sales and Business Development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Automation Technology and a Master’s of Business Administration and Engineering.
